A Note From Chet Atkins
"Over the years, I've kept my ears open for tunes I would enjoy playing. Sigmund Romberg's "Lover Come Back To Me" is one of my all time favorites. I play it whenever I pick up a guitar. "When You Wish Upon A Star" is a beautiful tune that fingerstyle guitarists love to play. And every guitar player should learn Jerry Reed's "The Claw". It's fun to play and audiences love it.
Occasionally, I've turned some of my own ideas into tunes. Boudleaux Bryant and I wrote "Blue (Ocean) Echo" which takes advantage of an echo-delay effect. "My Little Waltz" is a classical-sounding melody that John Knowles and I wrote together. I came up with "Slinky" while playing in time with a tremelo effect. I named the tune after the toy that walks down stairs.
I hope this collection gives you many hours of pleasure and maybe even inspires you to find a few tunes of your own." -- Chet Atkins, c.g.p.
